Anton Ponomarev & Ryoko Ono

Saxophonists Anton Ponomarev (currently based in Zurich) and Ryoko Ono (Nagoya, Japan) are both prolific and eclectic collaborators who share a tendency to augment fiery free alto playing with electronics.Ponomarev currently plays in Ponomarev-Obrazeena MASSACRE (soon to release a collaboration with Merzbow and Alex Buess from 16-17), TEUFELSKELLER (debut release soon on WV Sorcerer productions), Catatonic Leisure, and the legendary Pussy Riot. Ryoko Ono may be best known as half of prog/jazz duo Sax Ruins (with Tatsuya Yoshida), and is a member of avant-metal band Plastic Dogs.

On this remotely recorded session, Ponomarev lays down a base of harsh, grinding electronics (with occasional, often highly processed sax interjections), over which Ono executes sustained, un-effected solos with an intense focus and expressive tone.

It’s a really intense sound that Murmur made. Pandu with their latest works collaboration with Junko Hiroshige (Hijokaidan), Maia Koenig, split with Fraqsea, HNM, Aneka Digital Safari, The Rita, and more.
